According to The Hollywood Reporter, 24 executive producer Howard Gordon (whose series, Awake, will have a mid-season debut on NBC) and The Event's Dean Devlin have teamed up with Alloy Entertainment (the TV shows Gossip Girls, The Vampire Diaries, Petty Little Liars and the forthcoming The Secret Circle) on 2084, a book and film project that's been described as 1984 Meets The Terminator. The article notes that the story is "set in the late 21st century, a time where robots, once created to aid humans and fight wars, now control the population's every move." The proposed book series, which is to be published by HarperCollins, will be written with debuting author Gregg Rosenblum, who will work with Gordon and Devlin on developing the scenarios.
