According to Variety, Warner Bros. is moving forward aggressively with the Justice League movie to be directed by George Miller (Mad Max, Happy Feet). Interestingly, it seems that the project — which has been earmarked for a summer 2009 release — is going to be a live action production. Notes the article, "The studio explored making Justice League as an animated film or with motion capture, but all indications are that the film will be special-effects driven live action." Casting is underway and it is not expected that Christian Bale or Brandon Routh will play their respective roles of Batman and Superman. Two other points in the piece: director Batman Begins and The Dark Knight's Christoper Nolan is reportedly not happy about the decision to go forward with the film while he's still involved with the Batman franchise. Additionally, the sequel to Bryan Singer's Superman Returns has apparently been put on the backburner due to Warners' enthusiasm over the Justice League script written by Kieran and Michele Mulroney.
